Governors

Gilmore Global Instruments has worked with and sold governors & speed regulators since 1950. Today, we work very closely with the Pierce-Lockcraft company to provide quality products to our customers.

Pierce purchased the Hoof governor company in the 1990’s and has since taken over the manufacture of Hoof product. Hoof governors were extremely durable and Pierce has spent a great amount of energy updating and cross-referencing all of Hoof’s old numbers.

Gilmore Global Instruments has worked closely with Pierce in order to keep these cross references updated and consolidated so that our customers always have an option when they need a new governor.

By far the most popular governor we carry is the GC979R5. This unit is known as a “universal” governor and it can fit in just about any application which uses a mechanical governor. It can be mounted forwards, backwards, or even upside-down.
